Subject Description

The objective of this subject is to extend the participant's ability to:

  • investigate a particular area within arboriculture;

  • complete a report on that investigation, or, practice ecologically sustainable arboriculture;

  • formulate arboricultural costings and tenders, or, remove trees in confined, difficult locations;

  • perform tree assessment case studies, or, fall hardwood trees.

The content includes: Project formulation; scientific report writing; scientific methodology, or, case studies involving trees, public relations, arboricultural tendering and costing. Hardwood falling, large tree removal in confined spaces, utilising arboricultural resources, tree removal devices and machinery.

Assessment

Assignment (80%), presentation (20%), or, 60 minute examination (40%), assignments and/or practical exercises (60%).
