Subject Description

The objective of this subject is to extend the participant's ability to:

  • develop an understanding of modern arboriculture;

  • adopt safe work practices in arboriculture;

  • gain access to the canopies of trees;

  • understand fundamental tree physiology;

  • prune trees;

The content includes: An overview of arboriculture, tree climbing, arboricultural safety, arboricultural equipment, CODIT theory, target pruning principles, basic tree physiology.

Assessment

One 1-hour examination (30%); aboricultural practice (40%); assignment (30%).
