Subject Description

This subject must be taken concurrently with 793-102 Horse Industry Experience Report. On completion, students should be able to demonstrate the ability to:

• perform a range of practical skills pertinent to the horse industry;

• identify and assess management plans and strategies, and the management requirements for a horse industry enterprise;

• identify and assess the key resources required for an enterprise, and describe the varying management requirements throughout the 12 month period;

• work effectively within an enterprise organizational structure, and understand the obligations of employer and employee;

• take responsibility and carry out common tasks over the 12 months, demonstrating a knowledge of safe working practices;

• understand the significance and relevance of social, environmental and industrial issues in decision making in management;

• discuss the factors influencing changes in the industry, and more specifically to the enterprise;

• appreciate the role of the individual in the success of the enterprise and the quality of the outcome.

Assessment

A statement of Industry Experience by the owner/manager of the property or organization where the experience was obtained must be submitted. This is a hurdle requirement which must be met before the report prepared for 793-102 Horse Industry Experience Report can be assessed.
