Subject Description

The objective of the subject is to introduce students to:

  • develop skills in the use of spreadsheet software;

  • explain the use of information systems and database management systems, and develop skills in the use of relational database software;

  • explain factors influencing selection of a computer system;

  • understand the basic principles of electronic information and communication systems.

The content includes: The subject will include spreadsheet work using Excel, principles of database development and design, database programming, data communications.

Assessment

Two hour examination (70%); assignments (30%).
