For performance students: 45 minutes per week individual lesson; regular 1.5 hour Concert Class; instrument class as arranged. For composition students: at least 2 hours per week of studio work and tutorials and one 2-hour composition seminar per week

Subject Description

Students will engage in a program of practical study appropriate to the third year and working towards the end of year examination. Vocal and instrumental students will further develop their technique and repertoire and awareness of the stylistic and interpretative characteristics of the repertory studied with an individually-designed program of repertoire. Composition students will further develop an approach to their craft in the creation of musical works through practice and experiment, including developing fluency in the use of electronic music equipment and its creative application and extend knowledge and awareness of the electronic music literature.

Assessment

A 15-minute technical examination at the end of the semester of approved technical repertoire (50%); teacher's report and mark indicating progress made towards the end of year examination (40%); and attendance at Intrumental or Vocal Class and attendance at Concert Class (10%). Composition students: Folio of projects as directed including one free choice composition (80%); performance of at least one work composed during the semester (10%); participation in seminars, workshops, tutorials and concerts (10%).
