Subject Description | Social processes in Australia relevant to landscape architecture and urban design; capital formation and accumulation, production and consumption, class formation and social reproduction; analysing social and political constraints and opportunities affecting the design and use of urban landscape; the role of political economy, social psychology and critical social theory in developing an understanding of urban and landscape design in modern society; design of neighbourhood and regional systems of open spaces, with a focus on the suburban landscape; acquisition of skills in graphic and verbal communication of design ideas. The class addresses specific landscape architectural and urban design projects, proceeding from questions of theory to appropriate methods of analysis, to design solutions. |
Assessment | Written and graphic assignments equivalent to not more than 6000 words. |
