A research project and writing of a report under supervision throughout the year

Subject Description

Regular meetings will be held with the supervisor during second semester for advice on subject matter and technical execution of the work. One oral progress report will be required at the end of first semester. Students will develop an insight into a specific area of research and experience in basic research methods such as literature search, objective setting, data collection and problem-solving; develop an ability to handle source materials and data, and to interpret and present them in a coherent manner in accordance with accepted conventions; produce an initial literature review and a draft paper in a professionally competent manner and which may usefully be made available to a potential employer.

Assessment

Oral presentation (10%), literature review (15%) and draft paper equivalent to 15,000 words (75%).
