Subject Description

This subject will survey issues and debates associated with the provision of social and physical infrastructure in contemporary cities. Special attention will be paid to transport policy and local community services provision, as these affect whole metropolitan areas and local population and neighbourhoods within them. Industrialised and developing countries' cities will be studied. An introduction to design or urban infrastructure and community services policies will be given, along with preliminary discussion of modes of policy and plan evaluation.

Assessment

One 2500 word essay, one 2-hour examination in the examination period.
