Subject Description

Topics covered in this course will include, but are not limited to: advanced parametric statistics and their application to Information Systems business problems, non-parametric statistics and the resolution of analytical problems, resolution of statistics using computer based statistics programs, software metrics, standards and benchmarking in software design and use.

At the conclusion of this subject students will:

  • Understand the application of analysis to the resolution of standards and benchmarking problems in business and in organisations;

  • Understand the utility and application of parametric statistics to the resolution of Information Systems problems;

  • Understand the utility and application of non-parametric statistics to the resolution of Information Systems problems;

  • Be able to design and implement software metrics techniques to evaluate re-use problem and other Information Systems tasks in business organisations.

Assessment

A 3 hour end of semester exam and assigned project work expected to average 6 hours per week. Weighting of the assessment components will be announced at the commencement of the subject.
