Subject Description | Upon completion of the subject 610-360 students should comprehend: the principles of quantitative analytical chemistry; the complementary nature of classical and instrumental methods of analysis; the importance of planning and full understanding in the efficient performance of chemical analyses; the nature of chemical systems in the environment. In the practical component of the course students should have developed skills in quantitative chemical separations; ability to carry out classical and instrumental determinations of selected components of a variety of sample materials; competence in planning and execution of experimental procedures; ability to prepare reports of analyses carried out. The lecture course covers topics selected from: principles of the major analytical instruments: chemical methods of sample preparation for classical and instrumental analysis; aspects of environmental chemistry. |
Assessment | One 2-hour written examination at the end of semester. Practical work will be continuously assessed. Satisfactory performance in both theory and practical work is required before credit can be granted. |
