Subject Description

This subject comprises three units:

Personality

Provides discussion of major contemporary issues in the study of personality, and selected areas of contemporary research which may include: the relation of personality to creativity and aesthetic preference; personality/intelligence relationships; the cognitive performance correlates of personality; the interface between personality and abnormal psychology.

Social Cognition

Provides an overview of current theories and research in social cognition. Topics may include: attribution; social schemata; person memory; and social inference, including the roles of affect and motivation in inference processes.

Interpersonal Relationships

Provides an introduction to current theory and research examining interpersonal relationships. Topics may include: justice and fairness in interpersonal relationships; the work-family interface; power in relationships.

Assessment

A combination of laboratory reports and examinations, with the laboratory reports being weighted at least 40% of the total assessment.
