Subject Description

The study of technological systems and associated underlying scientific principles in the environmental and technological worlds relevant to primary children; the development of technological equipment and processes and their impact on the environment, for example, food production and processing, manufacturing, electronic systems, and technology and environmental change. Identification of sources of teaching materials, equipment and resources appropriate to the primary school level. The structure and content of the science and technology key learning areas of the Victorian Curriculum and Standards Framework.

Assessment

Written reports of workshop activities (1000 words) (20%), an assignment related to one of the studied aspects of the technological or environmental world (500 words) (10%); and a 2-hour examination at the end of each semester (70%).
