Subject Description | Deep and shallow learning. An examination of the epistemic traditions which underpin theories of learning. An examination of different theories including: Behaviourism (Watson, Skinner); Constructivism (Bruner); Humanism (Maslow); Intelligence (Sternberg), multiple-intelligence (Gardiner), emotional intelligence (Golman), distributed cognition. Domain specific learning, language and learning. Responsibility for learning. Reflective writing as a means of learning and Internet searching will be included. |
Assessment | Essays, assignments and/or class presentation equivalent to 4000 words. |
