Subject Description | A study of the design, conduct and presentation of an individual research project. This will include: an examination of principles of research design and methods of data collection; an overview of methods of organising and describing data in a systematic way using both numerical and graphical methods; an introduction to concepts underlying statistics and selected statistical tests; a consideration of a range of computer software for graphing, tabulating and analysing data; a consideration of ways of presenting and communicating research results. Specific topics will be examined in further detail according to the needs of individual students and the demands of their chosen projects. |
Assessment | A 1000 word assignment (or equivalent) and a 9000 word research thesis which conforms to scholarly conventions. |
