Subject Description

A study of the ecology and behaviour of organisms from an Australian perspective. Topics will include: the interactions and interdependence of organisms; the various levels of organisation and the factors which influence the distribution and abundance of organisms; integrated studies of organisms in their environment such as investigated on a field trip to a Eucalyptus regnans forest; the interactions of individuals and populations with their environment; the factors affecting distribution and abundance (biotic and abiotic), community structure, diversity, competition, adaptive functions of behaviour, reproductive strategies, coexistence and sociobiology.

Assessment

Written assignments equivalent to 5000 words.
