Subject Description

At the conclusion of this unit, students will be able to describe and model the various processes leading to soil degradation and be able to recommend strategies for the management of land prone to degradation.

Topics covered include: Water erosion, wind erosion, soil stability, soil salinisation, soil fertility, soil structure, tillage.

Assessment

One examination not exceeding three hours; reports/assignments up to a total of 30 pages.
