Subject Description | The components of a Civil or Environmental Engineering project; Standard methods of measurement; Case study description of a project. Lessons from unsuccessful projects. The relationship between structural form and material behaviour. The relationship between material properties and micro-structure as applied to civil engineering materials. The properties of masonry as they are affected by material quality and workmanship. Application and properties of sealants and protective coatings. |
Assessment | Two assignments each of up to 3000 words or equivalent (40%) and a written examination not exceeding three hours (60%). |
