A 1-hour lecture and a 1.5-hour laboratory class per week

Subject Description

This subject provides training in carrying out and interpreting empirical research. Students carry out three pieces of research - an oral history, an observation and a survey - and use one of them as the basis for a research paper. The class is organised around workshops, computer labs and internet-based activities. This subject is particularly suitable for Third Year students with some prior knowledge of basic research principles.

Assessment

A final essay of 2000 words and workbook tasks totalling 2000 words.
