Subject Description

This subject is a survey of the languages of the world from a typological and historical perspective, including an outline of language classifications, current numbers of speakers and language endangerment. The subject encourages students to develop a greater appreciation of the diversity of human language, and also its universal characteristics.

Assessment

Two assignments of 1000 words each and a 2000 word essay.
