Subject Description | This subject is an introduction to the structure and history of the Japanese language. Aspects of Japanese pronunciation and grammatical structure are discussed from a typological perspective. Students who complete the subject should have acquired a knowledge of Japanese phonology, morphology and syntax from a typological perspective; have some knowledge of Japanese dialects, the history of Japanese language and the relationship between Japanese and other languages. |
