Subject Description

Sociologists explore patterns and relationships in the often complex flow of daily events. On the one hand, sociology requires theoretical perspectives to conceptualize the nature of social structure and social action in a global/cross-cultural context. On the other hand, sociology needs research tools to produce robust and relevant data - if it is to be more than commonsense. This subject teaches students how to do sociology empirically by introducing logic and processes of quantitative social research via lectures and hands-on workshops.

Assessment

In-class test of 1000 words and workshop assignments totalling 3000 words.
