Subject Description | This subject is an advanced study of problems and issues in contemporary ethics. The subject begins with discussion of recent defences and critiques of ethical realism and objectivism, by philosophers including J L Mackie, John McDowell, David Wiggins, and Bernard Williams. Thereafter, the subject will explore ways of thinking about the reality of the ethical exemplified in the writings of various other contemporary philosophers, including Iris Murdoch, Raimond Gaita, and Cora Diamond. |
