Subject Description | This subject offers an in-depth study of selected key themes in the history of Australian science, using case studies to set scientific ideas and practices within a context of social and economic development. Issues discussed may include: the tyranny of distance; colonial vs. metropolitan science; the nature of scientific authority; science and development; science and the political order; and science in peace and war. |
