Subject Description | This subject involves an examination of foundational issues in the epistemology of science. The subject will examine the nature of mathematical knowledge, with an emphasis on Lakatos' 'Proofs and Refutations'. Students who complete this subject should: have a critical understanding of advanced topics in the theory of scientific knowledge; be familiar with the current literature on epistemological relativism. |
