Subject Description | This subject surveys the history of 20th century Asian societies, examining the impact of economic crisis and change, external and civil wars, and struggles for national independence. These issues are approached through the methodologies of political history, social history, labour history and feminist history. On completion of the subject students should have a grasp of the significant historical and cultural events, their effects and ways of thinking about them, both in relation to specific Asian societies and to non-Asian societies. |
