Subject Description

This subject involves various exercises and activities designed to consolidate and develop further the linguistic and communication skills gained in first semester. These include: grammar exercises, which explore more sophisticated structures (such as argumentation); group work; short presentations; and listening comprehension. Students are also introduced to phonetics. Textual studies continue in a seminar, moving on to the work of Aymé, Ernaux, Sartre, and Robbe-Grillet. Students should continue to develop their reading comprehension skills, and build on skills in critical analysis acquired in first semester.

Assessment

Written and oral work totalling 1500 words, a 10-minute oral test, a 1-hour written language test, and a textual studies essay totalling 1000 words.
