Subject Description | This subject involves the study of literary and historical texts illustrating aspects of Babylonian culture and an introduction to Akkadian epigraphy. On completion of the subject students should have acquired a knowledge of Akkadian grammar; an initial knowledge of the principles of Akkadian philology and epigraphy; and have been introduced to essential aspects of ancient Mesopotamian and Near Eastern culture through the reading of genuine texts of various kinds. |
