Subject Description | This subject involves the study of selected portions of the Old Testament in Aramaic, and an Aramaic translation of the latter (in the Targum). Students who complete the subject should have a reading knowledge of early and Biblical Aramaic texts; and have an understanding of the place of Aramaic within the context of ancient western Semitic languages. |
Assessment | Written work which may comprise regular exercises and class tests totalling 2000 words, and two hours of examination. |
