Subject Description

This subject is designed for students with little or no knowledge of Ukrainian. It will be offered in 2000 if there is a combined minimum enrolment of eight students. Four hours per week are dedicated to the acquisition of practical speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in the Ukrainian language. In the remaining hour students receive an introduction to the major contemporary cultural and social issues confronting the Ukraine and other Slavic and East European countries.

Assessment

A 2-hour written examination, weekly written exercises equivalent to 2500 words, two 30-minute tests, and a 10-minute oral examination.
