Subject Description | This subject introduces students to the systematic study of the modern Slavic languages from a comparative perspective. It covers such topics as the classification and typology of the Slavic languages, writing systems and phonetics, as well as morphology and syntax. The most significant distinctive features of the Slavic languages will be discussed. On completing the subject students should be able to identify and characterize each of the Slavic languages in terms of salient linguistic features and be able to describe the interrelationships between the languages. |
