Subject Description

This subject should enable students to develop the skills required to effectively access and acquire information from the internet in an area of interest in the Social Sciences or Humanities, and to develop the skills required to design, construct and publish a website reflecting this area of interest. Students who complete this subject successfully should: be familiar with the various resources available on the internet; have an understanding of how to purposefully access and retrieve information from the internet; have an understanding of the limitations of the internet for the Social Sciences and Humanities; have an understanding of the principles of effective website design; have the practical skills to construct a website using current web-authoring software.

Assessment

An internet-based research project and a publication project equivalent to 4000 words.
