The objectives of this combined course can be gleaned by referring to the objectives for both the LLB and the other degree forming part of the combined course. For the objectives of the LLB see LLB course objectives. For the objectives of the BCom see Course objectives.

As a consequence of the changes to the standard year and points outlined under Changes to points, the Faculties of Law and Economics and Commerce have agreed to changes in the first two years of the combined degree from 1998 to remove the need for students to overload in order to complete the required subjects for admission to the Honours degree in Commerce by the end of their third year.
