Horwood Language Centre offers the following intensive language subjects to students during the Summer Semester:

• French

• German

• Italian

• Japanese

• Russian*

• Spanish*

* Not offered in 2000.

The subjects are at beginners level and are taught intensively over six and a half weeks of full-time study. They are suitable for students who have little or no knowledge of the language.

An intensive beginners language subject may be taken at First or Second Year for 37.5 credit points towards the BA degree.

In some circumstances, completion of an intensive language subject can enable a student to undertake that language at a higher level. However, students must consult with the relevant department for further details.

All intensive languages are quota restricted. Students must submit an application for entry to the Horwood Language Centre by 30 October. Application forms are available at the Centre.
