The Centre for Ancient and Classical Languages was formed in 1998 to consolidate and develop the teaching of ancient languages, especially Ancient Greek, Latin and Classical Hebrew, within the Faculty of Arts. The Centre offers you the opportunity to study Akkadian, Ancient Greek, Aramaic, Biblical Hebrew, Latin, and Semitics, especially Syriac. Study in these areas covers both linguistic proficiency and the contemporary interpretation of ancient world texts and traditions.

Although the Centre does not offer either a Major or Honours in Ancient and Classical Languages, you can undertake Ancient and Classical Language subjects as part of a Major or Honours study in Classics and Archaeology.
