Subject Description

This subject involves reading of references in English to provide the necessary background to topics studied through the language, reading of business-related texts, writing and preparation of business documentation and training in business-related spoken language. The objective of AK 311 is to develop students' intensive reading, written and oral skills through a program of specifically selected Korean media articles, supplemented by oral and written exercises. Assessment includes interaction with visitors to the class drawn from the Korean business community in Melbourne as well as formal interviews in a business environment. Three separate topics will be covered throughout the semester with each topic running for a duration of four weeks - one week is allocated to class tutorials (two 2-hour classes), two weeks to private research and one week to oral presentations.

Assessment

Three written assignments, and three oral presentations, and class participation. The assessment includes interaction with visitors to the class drawn from the Korean business community in Melbourne as well as formal interviews in a business environment. To be eligible for assessment students must attend 70% of classes.
