Subject Description | This subject is a practical introduction to the Portuguese language and to Portuguese and Brazilian culture. Students will acquire the language through a range of activities including language laboratory exercises, computer aided tasks, role play in small groups and the study of a wide spectrum of audio, video and written materials. Students who complete this subject should be able to carry out a basic conversation in Portuguese, be able to comprehend and produce simple written text, and have a mastery of a reasonable range of grammatical structures. |
Assessment | Aural comprehension and transcription exercises, reading performance and comprehension, oral production, written exercises, and a 2-hour written exam. |
Prescribed Texts | Reading lists will be available at the beginning of the semester. |
