Subject Description

In this subject students are concerned with the study and analysis of works by writers from the three geographic and political divisions of Latin America: North, Central and South. Special attention is paid to writings by Luisa Valenzuela (Argentina), Carlos Fuentes (Mexico) and Manlio Argueta (El Salvador), which are analysed in relation to their respective theories of literature and the role of literary intellectuals in their respective countries.

Assessment

Class participation, and two essays of 2000 words each, and a 20-minute class presentation.
