A 1-hour lecture/seminar, a 2-hour practical language class, grammar and video viewing and computer self-help equivalent to one hour per week

Subject Description

A more advanced subject for students with proficiency in Spanish. Emphasis is placed on developing students' skills in distinguishing and handling various language registers in written, aural and oral speech while more advanced aspects of grammar are also studied. Hispanic culture and literature are examined and discussed primarily through audiovisual and written material. One literary text is studied in depth within its socio-historical context.

Assessment

Two essays of 1000 words each, and written and oral participation (in all classes; written assignments; transcription exercises) equivalent to 1500 words, and a 1.5-hour written and aural test.
