Prerequisites

Spanish 1B-2 or some knowledge of Spanish without completion of VCE Spanish or an approved equivalent. Students must consult with departmental advisors prior to enrolment.

A 1-hour lecture, a 1-hour tutorial, and two 1-hour practical classes per week

Subject Description

This subject is in many ways a continuation of Spanish 1B-2. While emphasizing the acquisition of speaking and listening skills, the development of reading and writing skills is a major focus of this subject. Students will be involved in a wide range of language acquisition activities and will be exposed to the Spanish language and Hispanic culture through the written language, radio, video and cinema.

Assessment

A 2-hour written test, and written exercises, and oral/aural practical work (Aural comprehension & transcription exercises; reading performance & comprehension; oral production: class presentation & pronunciation exercises).
