Subject Description

The objective of this subject is to:

  • enhance the students' knowledge of remnant vegetation in south-eastern Australia;

  • examine the impacts of management on remnant vegetation;

  • examine the techniques to be employed in the restoration of ecosystems, and habitat in particular.

The content includes: Remnant vegetation in south-eastern Australia; management impacts on remnant vegetation; conservation and management of rare and endangered flora and fauna; habitat corridors and network connectivity; island biogeography; revegetation techniques; wee eradication and feral animal control methodology in restoration; habitat enhancement techniques and other restoration methods.

Assessment

Two hour theory examination (35%); two hour practical examination (25%); one assignment of 2000 words (40%).
