Subject Description | Elementary materials of music: reading, sight singing and basic writing techniques; introduction to music of the Western tradition. By the end of semester, students will be able to read, notate and recognise aurally simple melodies and basic chordal sonorities, and to discuss the principal movements in Western musical history from 1600 to 1800 and their characteristics. |
Assessment | Regular listening and writing tests, and an end-of-semester sight singing test and written examination. |
