Subject Description

Introduction to the economic, political and cultural context of environmental planning and design; theories and principles of design in architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, environmental and urban planning, particularly with regard to the place of design in these areas. Project work stressing methods of site analysis and documentation, and the design of small-scale open space. Techniques of graphic communication especially in the areas of drawing plans, sections, elevations, perspectives and freehand sketches, and in the use of pencil, pen, markers and coloured pencil. Study of relevant literature.

Assessment

Progressive assessment of project work and a written test, equivalent to not more than 5000 words.
