Subject Description | This course focusses on the major cities of Asia and the Pacific looking in particular at the capacity of local and national policy makers and planners to cope with the increasing millions of people who inhabit these cities and their many problems. We will look at colonial origins, population growth, land tenure systems, employment, housing, poverty, inequality, social and environmental impacts and the integration of these cities into the global economy. |
Assessment | One major essay of 3000 words, seminar presentation and 90 minute exam. |
