Subject Description

The course will, particularly through supporting assignment work related to other subjects in the course, concentrate on developing students' ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, include: Analysis and synthesis of a range of materials including briefs, assignment questions and requirements; interpretation (and simple production) of maps, plans and design concepts. Written presentation skills; organisation of information; graphic communication support; referencing and bibliographic techniques; style, syntax and written expression. Verbal presentation skills: organisation of information; audience orientation; visual support material and spatial facilitation; audio visual aids; presentation and question asking/answering; non-verbal communication, interpersonal communication skills.

Assessment

Verbal presentation, class participation and written assignments not exceeding 3,500 words.
