Subject Description

Integrated functions of olfaction and taste, the energy nutrients, vitamins and minerals, control of nutrient absorption, energy balance and imbalance, lifecycle nutritional needs, food composition, food safety, undernutrition and malnutrition, Practical work/computer workshops/assignments will cover methods of assessment of nutritional adequacy, analysis of body composition, personal nutrient analysis and a community nutrition survey.

Assessment

A 2 hr examination, 8 x 300 word laboratory/workshop reports, and one 1500 word assignment based on a community survey.
