Subject Description

Upon completion of this course students should have

* a knowledge of the fundamentals of clinical microbiology and mammalian cell culture and some aspects of bacterial physiology and genetics.

* an appreciation of the value of good experimental planning and execution

* the ability to analyse experimental results in a systematic fashion and communicate the results of an experiment orally and in writing.

Assessment

A 3-hour end-of -semester written examination including a practical component (60%), and continuous assessment of practical reports (40%).
