Subject Description | Students completing this unit will understand how to make simplifications to complex soil conditions such that the strength/deformation characteristics of the soil can be established. Topics covered include: Compaction, slope stability, site investigation foundation engineering. A review of design exercises in each of these areas. |
Assessment | One written examination not exceeding three-hours at the end of the semester (40%), Design exercises (60%) |
