Subject Description

Topics covered include: Introduction to the management process, embracing planning, organisation, leadership and control, of human, physical and financial resources. The commercial, social, environmental and safety aspects of engineering practice. The scope of engineering projects, elements of a project, function and interaction between elements. Communication workshops to enhance listening, reading, writing and speaking skills.

Assessment

One written examination not exceeding three hours (50%), two written assignments, maximum 3000 words each (30%) and workshop participation (20%).
