Subject Description

On completion of the unit, students should be: competent in the identification, taxonomy and morphology of eucalypts, conifers, deciduous hardwoods and important elements of the Australian flora; aware of the distribution, characteristics and uses of many Australian forest species. Content includes: recognition of eucalypts and other native trees and shrubs, conifers and deciduous hardwoods; geographic distribution, properties, and uses of selected trees and shrubs.

Assessment

One 2-hour written examination at the end of the semester and written tests and practical assignments may be given throughout the course.
