Subject Description | This subject introduces students to the professional practice of social work in a variety of settings and aims to prepare them for beginning practice in the first supervised professional practicum at the end of semester 1. Core processes of social work practice (engagement, assessment, planning and action) will be examined in relation to practice at different systems levels (individual, family, group and community). The subject draws heavily upon students' learning both prior to and during the BSW course in that it asks students to bring that learning to bear on choices relating to the practice of social work. |
Assessment | Written work totalling 4000 words or equivalent. Attendance at a minimum of 75% of seminars is a hurdle requirement for this subject. |
